Home sweet home....
Moving aboard...
While the pictures above, for the most part, look rather glorious - we had to battle 3 weeks of TORRENTIAL rain and generally shitty weather whilst trying to move all our belongings aboard from the our lovely dry home, and ready the boat for the journey (small compared to what we intend to embark on) up the coast to Sydney and our new home in Middle Harbour.
Honestly, at times it was a bit of a struggle and we questioned the sense of moving from our comfy warm (ish) home by the beach in the middle of winter - to an even smaller home subject to the elements, with so many things unfinished and not 'perfect'. But then we realised - wasn't that the point????
Since moving aboard we have both had our little "moments" (including me being bedridden with the flu for a week), but have generally settled in well and managed to cross many little things off our list. I say 'little' things, but it really is those little things that make a huge difference to comfort aboard. Extra little press on lights in the dark wardrobes and above the stove; an actual bin under the galley sink; a security lock on the companionway hatch (my comfort, while Ian is on nightshift); and my personal fave - a little hole filed out of the washboard for the shore power cord to go through so we can lock the hatch (without having to unplug, wind and weave it under the stairs ever single time...)...like I said it is the little things.
The forward cabin's 2 bunks have been converted into one HUGE bed which will henceforth be referred to as the 'boudoir'. All that's missing is the silk sheets....not too practical on a boat I spose.
Ian is a genius. I'm sure some of you will be laughing at that, but as far as I'm concerned, all I have to do is come up with some wild ideas - and HE works out a way to do it!!!
Anyhow, lot's being done and lots lots more to get done. We shall keep you updated!
